Royal College of Surgeons - MIni-Med (Livestream)

The TY Mini-Med programme is designed to give the students from all over Ireland the opportunity to experience what it is like to train and work as a doctor.  Although CCS was unsuccessful in the Royal College of Surgeons Mini-Med lottery, some sections of the TY Mini-Med 2017 programme will be live streamed during the course of the week of 9th – 13th January 2017.

Please see below the Minimum Technical Requirements for viewing live stream:

  • Microsoft Windows XP SP2, Microsoft Windows Vista, Macintosh OS X v10.4 or above, or Linux
  • 256 megabytes (MB) of RAM - 512 MB recommended
  • JavaScript and Cookies must also be enabled.
  • Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher resolution
  • 16-bit sound card
  • Speakers/headphones
Internet Connection Speed
  • For a reliable viewing experience at medium quality we recommend a downstream connection speed of at least 700Kbps.
  • Viewers can select a higher (up to 2Mbps for HD) or lower (198Kbps for low) video quality on the player depending on the connection speed.
  • You can test your connection speed here we recommend testing several times as bandwidth can fluctuate.


On Thursday 12th January, there will be a virtual reality session from 10.30am until 11.30am and it will be possible to partake in this if tuned in on the live stream. Students who wish to be involved must have a compatible smartphone- please see details-https://support.google.com/cardboard/answer/6295091?hl=en 

Students must also have Google Cardboard VR glasses.
